Live Sound Experience Built Around Real Events

Soundtech PA Hire grew out of a genuine involvement in live music. Owner Toby Ferguson has been a drummer since the early 1990s, playing with various bands in Edinburgh, London and Oxford and travelling around the country for gigs and live performances. Those years on stage gave him first-hand experience of what musicians need from a sound system and, just as importantly, what can go wrong during a live event.

In the early 2000s, a chance meeting with Mike Fogg of Manchester PA Hire introduced Toby to the other side of live music production. With years of experience performing on stage, Toby was asked to help with sound, lighting and general stage management at a festival in Manchester. The experience changed the direction of his working life and introduced him to a new passion for live sound and event production.

Toby continued working alongside Mike for several years, helping with sound, lighting and stage production at a wide range of live music events. Mike has sadly since passed away, but the experience and knowledge gained during those years became an important part of the foundation on which Toby developed Soundtech PA Hire.

Working on multi-band gigs and live events has taught us that good event sound is about much more than owning the right speakers. It is about choosing a sensible system, preparing it properly, understanding what performers need on stage and dealing calmly with the unexpected when a live event does not go exactly to plan.

For Dry Hire customers, that means helping you choose equipment that makes sense for your event and that you can confidently operate. For bands and larger productions, it means providing people who understand stage monitoring, microphones, soundchecks, live mixing and the practical pressures of keeping an event moving.

Equipment, Safety & Venue Documentation

We use professional PA, microphone, mixing and lighting equipment selected for practical event use. Equipment is electrically tested as part of our maintenance approach, and Public Liability Insurance is in place. Where a venue or event organiser needs supporting documentation, relevant insurance and electrical-testing information can be supplied.

The aim is straightforward: provide equipment and technical support that suit the event, install it sensibly where setup is included, and make the sound side of the job easier for the people organising or performing at it.
